How gym can help depression….

My niche in Fitness has grown from the clients that I’ve had in the past. There are so many types of clients that you’ll come across whilst being a person trainer and here are some…

  • People who want to get in crazy shape for a holiday
  • People who just want to be battered for 60 mins
  • People training for performance in a specific sport
  • People who lack in self belief and low in confidence
  • Some people just love to have company whilst in the gym
  • Some people need motivation and accountability.

As time goes on you start to find what type of clients you prefer and want to work with. Luckily for me I have a wide range of clients in all of these areas which is great because it keeps my job exciting.

What gives me the most reward?

I personally thrive on seeing people in a low place knowing that if they listen to me I WILL turn their lives around, funny saying it but in a consultation I can usually size up on what type of client their going to be within a few questions. I love not only getting people into shape but watching individuals grow in self belief and confidence, I love seeing their personalities change and make them feel they’ve invested in themselves.

How can exercise help depression?

All of this information is from personal experiences.

I know when thing’s aren’t going so well in life it’s hard to get yourself out of a hole that you think will never end. Taking that leap of faith into something brand new is usually a huge step in the right direction. The reason why I find exercise is so is because you can invest so much time into yourself and you reap endless benefits from it…

  • You feel more energised and active.
  • You feel more productive in other areas of life.
  • You get in better shape and feel more confident.
  • You feel like you’ve found an outlet to get rid of daily stresses.
  • You’ll become an all round better person.

Don’t get me wrong this isn’t 100% guaranteed way to happiness but I know its a great place to start.

Having seen people blossom into different people and get in shape it’s clear to me that exercise means so much more than just get a 6 pack for summer. I know from personal experience being a skinny self conscious kid that gym pretty much turned my life around and I know for a fact I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for training.

Spend some time obsessing and investing in yourself and I promise other thing’s will just naturally fall into place.
